If the books on your shelf are not read regularly and/or do not “spark joy”, they are simply dust collectors. Determine which types of books are truly the “best and brightest” and consider letting go others that you no longer read or love.
- Visit the “Friends of the Library of Hawaii” page to learn about what kind of books can be donated and how to do it (in the future when we are able to visit the library again).
- Borrow books from the library, instead of buying your own. Check out the “OverDrive” app available with a Hawaii library card where you can read and/or listen to digital/audio versions of books.
- Set a retention period for magazines (i.e. “I will keep magazines for up to two months”). Discard any magazine issues that are beyond your newly-set “retention period”. No worry, beef curry. Another issue is already making its way to you next month.
PS – CANCEL any magazine subscriptions or monthly book memberships (i.e. Audible) if you are not reading/using them!
